I was 12 years old when Apollo 8 orbited the Moon. It was a turning point in my life. The reading of Genesis as we watched the lunar surface go by on live television was awe inspiring. Less than seven months later Neil and Buzz walked on the Moon. I have always been intrigued by space exploration and it has always been a part of my professional life. Magazine articles, books and documentaries are my way of sharing this amazing story of the exploration of space.
I grew up in Oklahoma City. My childhood home was just west of the Tinker Air Force Base runway. The field between our home and Tinker is now filled with a large Boeing facility. At the end of our street there is now located a Northrop Grumman plant. I majored in Journalism at the University of Oklahoma which is about 30 minutes down the road. I worked for the Oklahoma History Center and have been deeply involved in a project I call "Oklahomans and Space." This has been a research project to identify all of the astronauts, engineers and others who have been involved with space exploration and are from Oklahoma or lived here and were influenced by the state.
From time to time, I will be listing programming and my printed materials on this web site for those interested in exploring my world of space.
